Student Leadership
Leadership opportunities are extensive, in a range of activities including academic, sporting, community service, house leadership and school representation and service.
In the Junior School
K Team
Year 6 students become buddies to the incoming Kindergarten students each year. They develop a special bond with the Kindergarten students because they look after them in the playground and sometimes in the classroom, especially at the beginning of the year.
Monitors
Year 6 Monitors assist teachers in setting up their classrooms and in performing other duties.
House Leaders
House Leaders in Year 6 are elected by students and undertake a range of responsibilities to organize for events and other Programmes. There are 4 Houses – Ball, Cowell, Richmond and Gray. Positions include House Captains, House Vice Captains, House Sports Captains and House Treasurers
Junior School Prefects
Prefects undertake important school leadership positions. Prefects are voted for by their peers and by staff members. The positions are:
- School Captain
- Vice Captains
- Sports Captains
- Other Prefects who undertake a variety of responsibilities e.g. Music Prefects.
In the Secondary School
Bond Groups
All secondary students belong to a bond group that meets twice a week to discuss matters of concern, to foster leadership, to establish a sense of community, to foster an understanding of other year groups and to discuss wider issues in the school.
Student representative Council (SRC)
All secondary students elect their class SRC representatives. The SRC is a very active body that arranges fund-raising and other community outlook activities.
Peer support leaders
Year 11 Peer support leaders act as buddies to the incoming Year 7 each year.
House Leaders
House Leaders in Years 10 and 11 are elected by students and undertake a range of responsibilities to organize for events and other Programmes. There are 4 Houses – Ball, Cowell, Richmond and Gray. Positions include House Captains, House Vice Captains, House Sports Captains and House Treasurers.
School Prefects
Students who are elected as Prefects undertake the most important student leadership positions in the school. Prefects are aware that they should behave as role models to other students. They also represent the school at a range of external events. Prefects are:
- School Captain
- Vice Captain
- Sports Captain
- Senior Prefect
- Other Prefects who undertake a variety of responsibilities e.g. Music Prefects.
Other Leadership Positions
Many students undertake leadership positions as Captains of Sports, Band Leaders, Choir and Chapel Leaders, SIC and FOCUS Leaders and Social Justice Leaders.
