Creative Arts
Our girls are given many opportunities to develop their creative flair through subjects such as Music, Drama and Visual Arts. HSC and competition results are outstanding. Extra curricular opportunities are outlined in the Discovery and DanePlus Programmes.
Music
Many students participate in the school’s music programs. Staff are highly qualified, offering extensive musical expertise. Staff are innovative, constantly seeking new ways to foster a love of music.
Students participate in a range of musical pursuits that include:
- Junior School Band
- Senior School Band
- Stage Band
- Infants Choir
- Park Road Singers
- Senior Choir
- Recorders Group
- Bellringing teams
- Flute Ensemble
Individuals and small groups also perform at Eisteddfods, Open Days, BandFest, community events, concerts and school events.
The Danebank School of Music offers specialist tuition in a wide range of instruments. More information can be found at the School of Music button on iDanenet (click on the iDanenet link at the bottom of this page, right-hand side of the orange strip).
Danebank also encourages musical expertise by offering annual Music Scholarships to promising musicians.
Drama
The school’s Performing Arts Centre provides state-of-the-art lighting, sound and staging opportunities in the main auditorium. There is also tremendous scope for developing dramatic activities in two additional, large drama studios.
Both Junior and Senior Schools present Drama productions of a high calibre. Sometimes productions are musicals, other times they are dramas. Roles are allocated after open auditions. Students involved in productions participate co-operatively as performers, stage crew, lighting operators, audio experts, stage managers etc. Recent productions have included The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Seussical, The Bald Prima Dona and The Miser.
Drama enrichment lessons are held in the Junior School as well as the secondary school and Drama is offered as an elective subject from Years 9-12. Classes aim to provide students with valuable learning experiences including team-building, problem-solving, public speaking, performing and literacy.
Visual Arts
Our aim is for students to develop their own artistic style through the study of historical and contemporary art forms in a wide variety of two and three dimensional media and techniques.
Opportunities are given to students to develop their design and practical skills by learning from visiting artists and mentors. Students also contribute to a range of Visual Arts exhibitions.
HSC results are outstanding with some students’ works being included in the prestigious ArtExpress exhibition.
The Terraces building houses Visual Arts facilities that include:

- Ceramics Studio
- Screen Printing Room
- Year 12 studio
- Photography laboratory
