Secondary School

The secondary school is an energetic, student-centred environment where girls are positively motivated to develop their keen minds. We aim to give the best educational experiences providing students with a solid foundation to grow in knowledge, establish self-confidence and succeed. We focus on individual and co-operative learning as well as mastering study and research techniques. Strong communication and presentation skills, together with an awareness of the world around them, give students the best possible preparation for an independent, achieving future.

High Standards

High academic standards result from building enthusiasm in students and from the strong commitment of our staff who are experienced and highly-qualified educators. Many are Higher School Certificate markers, some are senior markers. They provide students with varied and challenging work and they work co-operatively to ensure the smooth progress of students through the various learning stages. They undertake extensive professional development so that Danebank provides the most recent teaching and learning programmes.
Danebank aims to provide the best educational opportunities by also providing suitable equipment and facilities eg through the integration of the latest technology such as computers and interactive white boards.

All Girls

Girls can do anything at Danebank. Our girls are leaders, performers, artists, experts in using technology and much more. The all-girls environment accommodates the learning needs of girls, unencumbered by any gender restrictions. Girls are expressive beings. They respond well to working in groups and to oral learning situations. At Danebank, girls rule!

Classroom Learning Programmes

Curriculum emphasis changes to reflect changes in students’ needs. The Curriculum consists of:

Year 7 – Students study the core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science plus a range of other subjects that ensure students have a “taste” of subjects they may wish to study in depth in later years.
Year 8 – Students continue to study the core subjects but elect to study one language.
Years 9-10 – Students study the core subjects plus History and Geography. They also choose two other elective subjects
Years 11-12 – Students must study English. They then choose 4-5 elective subjects. Students study appropriate levels in all subjects.

All students attend Christian Education lessons.

Enrolments

Year 7

Year 7 is a special time in a student’s life. The challenges of high school are numerous, especially the challenge of developing effective organization skills. We provide strong support so that students can effect these changes smoothly (see Faithful hearts). There are 4 classes with a total of 95 students. A Grading Test determines at which level each girl will commence her secondary years. We also provide a home room and consistent class grouping for most of the Year 7 timetable.

Year 11

New enrolments are accepted to commence in Year 11. We have especially strong HSC results and offer a number of extra programs which assist Year 12 students. Click here to read HSC results.

Other Years

Enrolments are accepted into other years when vacancies become available. Parents are advised to apply early.
