P&F Presidents Message
Welcome to the Danebank Parents & Friends Association.
Danebank’s 77 year history shows phenomenal growth in land purchases and development of facilities. It began in 1933 with 5 children, boys and girls, in the backyard and back veranda of a local home. In 1935 the premises at 84 Park Road was bought and the campus has grown from there. Today, Danebank has 950 students, a number which keeps the school small enough so that all students are known and valued but large enough so that many opportunities can be made available to all students. Academic outcomes have also had a steady improvement.
I am sure the founders of Danebank would not have been able to imagine how information technology would change our lives; how our economy would move from national to global and how the great Aussie dream of owning your own home could become so tough. The next 20 years will probably be even more dramatic and will definitely impact on our children. So, in terms of education from a holistic perspective, we believe the P&F plays a critical role. We are there to help build the Danebank community spirit and to raise additional funds that provide added extras for our children’s education. We want to enable our children to be competitive in their future lives & to deal with the changes I have mentioned & those we are yet to see.
Our fundraising efforts are relatively straight forward. Firstly we encourage all parents to be financial members of the association. Then we hold a number of events. These include:
- Golf Day
- Autumn Fair in May
- Triva Night
- Junior Disco
As well these events we are responsible for managing:
- The Uniform shop
- The Clothing pool
I would encourage your attendance at the P&F meetings. They are held at the school on the 3rd Monday of each month during the school terms commencing at 7.30pm. They are a good opportunity to meet other parents, hear from Mrs Davis and Mrs Lucas in terms of what is happening at the school, have input into the activities of the P&F and take on official P&F positions if you are interested. I look forward to seeing you there.
