Careers Counselling
Effective careers counselling is imperative for students to make realistic choices for future studies and careers. The process of building Careers knowledge is part of each students’ personal development. Our counsellor offers advice which is an integral part of the Year 12 experience.
It begins in Year 9 with students taking advantage of the extensive information available in careers reference material as well as making personal appointments with the counsellor. Parents and students also seek the advice of the careers counsellor before making subject choices for Year 11.
The counsellor combines an awareness of each student’s academic abilities, interests and values and the way in which these are related to their career planning and provides advice that leads the student to make career decisions, based on self-knowledge and the range of educational options available. By the commencement of HSC examinations, each student should have a short list of appropriate, well researched tertiary options. Students then make a final choice of study options once their HSC results are known.
