Congratulations to Emma-Lucille B our School Captain who last week won the Regional Level of the Lions Youth of the Year Competition. She will now proceed to the District Level to be held at the Lions Multiple District Convention in May this year.
Emma-Lucille spoke on the topic of feminism and aimed to debunk some of the myths we encounter in today’s world, and spoke powerfully about the pressures on communities of high-rise living. Her speech was not only impressive but also informative and thought provoking.
The Lions Youth of the Year is now in its 55th year, and aims to assist Australia’s youth by promoting leadership development and community service.
Participating students have the opportunity to experience interview situations and to practice their public speaking skills. They regularly meet via Lions Australia and have the opportunity to engage in open discussions and exchange ideas and meet professional people within their community.
