Creative Arts
Our girls are given many opportunities to develop their creative flair through subjects such as
Music, Drama and Visual Arts.
Music
See Extra Opportunities for outside Classroom Programmes.
In the Classroom
One of Danebank’s traditions is to present music of high calibre. Students participate in weekly Music lessons with specialist Music staff. Here they develop a rich musical background and experience a wide range of instruments and activities. These include visiting artists such as Musica Viva, concerts and other presentation opportunities.
School of Music
The Danebank School of Music offers specialist tuition in a wide range of instruments. Parents may enrol online. More information can be found at the School of Music button on Services.
Danebank also encourages musical expertise by offering annual Music Scholarships to promising musicians.
Drama
Performing Arts Centre
The school’s Performing Arts Centre provides state-of-the-art lighting, sound and staging opportunities in the main auditorium. There is also tremendous scope for developing dramatic activities in two additional, large drama studios.
Productions
Students undertake drama activities in the classroom as part of their general curriculum work. Some of these are presented at Assemblies and other occasions. For example Stage 1 students present a Christmas play annually. Activities aim to provide students with valuable learning experiences including team-building, problem-solving, public speaking, performing and literacy. Drama also enables the development of creativity, communication skills and critical thinking through collaborative learning.
Visual Arts
Students experience a wide range of visual arts activities. Often these are integrated within a theme-based frame of reference that incorporates other subjects.
Students have opportunities to express their own flair while learning about visual arts styles. Opportunities are given to students to develop their design and practical skills by learning from visiting artists and mentors and by visiting galleries. Students also contribute to a range of Visual Arts exhibitions.
Visit the Junior School at any times and you will be greeted by a broad range of students’ visual arts works on the walls.
