Technological & Applied Studies
Danebank is committed to providing a technology curriculum that is innovative, incorporating high impact learning experiences that will prepare our girls for their future of work. Each staff member in the TAS department brings a range of specialist skills, passions and knowledge to their subject areas. They aim to provide rich educational experiences that challenge students to reach their full potential.
We offer an extensive range of subjects, which aim to provide students with the knowledge and skills required to respond to our rapidly changing world.
Students begin their design and innovation journey in the study of Technology (Mandatory) during Years 7 and 8. Each year, the girls’ creative and thinking skills are explored, developed and challenged through digital, materials (workshop and textiles), agriculture and food Technologies units.
Students then have the opportunity to select from a range of elective courses in Years 9 and 10 including Design and Technology, Industrial Technology - Multimedia, Food Technology and Textiles Technology.
Stage 6 courses offered in Years 11 and 12 include Textiles and Design, Design and Technology, Hospitality and Food Technology.
Danebank has a range of specialist rooms, with computerised equipment.
- Workshops with industrial machinery including Laser Cutter, CNC Mill and 3D Printers.
- Textiles Technology Rooms with sewing machines, overlockers and computerised embroidery machines.
- A large state of the art commercial Hospitality Kitchen with industry equipment.
- A computer laboratory with a variety of the latest relevant software applicable to teaching multimedia and other technology subjects.
Specific Technological and Applied Studies subjects enable students to specialise in the use of technological equipment and processes.

Every year, we celebrate the success of HSC students within our subject areas, with regular nominations of Major Projects to SHAPE, we often have the opportunity to visit student project displays at the Powerhouse Museum.
We have also been able to celebrate with multiple students who have been recognised for their achievements in the HSC examination.
