The HSC… remember to look forwards

Tim Howle a former HSC Student, has written an inspiring, helpful and motivating article for Atarnotes.com.au outlining his top tips for tackling Term 2 of Year 12.  Read the full article here.

In summary, here are a few points to consider to put things into perspective and avoid becoming overwhelmed:

Reset and re-adjust your mindset

If Term 1 was a smooth sailing, that’s great, but don’t sit back and relax now. Keep up your momentum and stay focused.

If, on the other hand, it was “TOUGH!”, it might be time to reflect on your study versus social balances and make some changes. It might not mean spending more time studying, it might just mean studying smarter.

Persevere

Term 2 is often chock-a-block full of assessments and homework, revision and exams, and trials are being discussed all too often! The number one tip here is to just get through it, make sure you work steadily and don’t fall behind. Tick off what has to be done and look forwards.

Routine

Work out a rough routine of all the things you want to fit into your day, reflect on when you study best (morning or night), make a wall planner or to-do lists, set time limits, and plan out your days and weeks. Remember:
'A goal without a plan is just a wish'
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, writer and pioneering aviator

Stay in the present

Don’t stress about what might or what might not be. Be mindful of the big picture, but don’t stress about it. Focus on what you are doing NOW, day to day and week to week, to build a better outcome and to reach the goals you have set.
